conjunction


CONJUNCTION
CONJUNCTION is a part of speech than relate or connect two word, sentences, phrase or clauses.
Example :
(two word)   : I have a book and pen.
(sentences)  : the class was canceled and all student didn’t enter the class.
(phrase)       : with your mom and with your dad.
(clauses)      : I clean my room so I take a rest.

THE KINDS OF CONJUCTION:
1.  COORDINATING CONJUNCTION
is conjunction that join two words, main clauses, or sentences. Coordinating conjunction always come between the word or clauses that they join.
Example of coordinating conjunction :
·         For   : he is gambling with his health, for has been smoking far long too.
·         And   : Arnold is a rich man, and he can buy anything he wants.
·         Nor   : that is neither what I said nor what I meant.
·         But   : Mia is poor, but she is clever.
·         Or    : you must study hard, or you can fail in exam.
·         Yet   : mark plays football well, yet his favorite sport is swimming.
·         So    : i was tired, so I went to sleep.

2.  CORRELATIVE CONJUNCTION
Correlative conjunction work in pairs to join words and groups of words of equal weight in sentence.
Example of Correlative conjunction:
·         Either….or           : he must take either this book, or that one.
·         Not only…but also : not only is he handsome, but he is also brilliant.
·         Neither…nor        : neither the basketball team nor the football team is doing well.
·         Both…and             : he is both wise and good.
·         Whether…or        : I don’t care whether you go or stay.
·         Just as…so          : Just as girls love doll, so  boys love ball.

3.  SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTION
Subordinating conjunction that cojoin an independent clause and a dependent clause and connect two parts of a sentence that are not equal. A subordinating conjunction may appear at a sentence beginning or between two clauses in a sentence. These words are commonly used as subordinating conjunctions
Example of subordinating conjunction:
·         After                    : after passed the exam, we go holiday.
·         Although               : although he has a physical handicap, he has become a successful businessman.
·         As                         : he sings as agnes monica sings.
·         As far as              : as far as something to do on weekend, we didn’t go to beach.
·         As soon as            : I will give to you as soon as I finish it.                
·         As though             : I act as though he has mush money.
·         Because                 : he is absent because he is sick.
·         Before                  : Do it before you forget
·         Even if                  : i will meet you even if it rains.
·         How                       : I am busy how I go vacation with you.
·         If                         : I will go to your party if I have enough time.
·         That                      : I tell him that I will go to java.                                                                              
·         Lest                      : I wathed closely, lest I make a mistake.
·         No matter how     : I will love you no matter how you are.
·         Since                     : since I your teacher, you must
·         So that                 : I need your help so that I call you.
·         Although               : We enjoyed our picnic although it rained all day.
·         Till                        : I will call you tiil you arrived home.
·         Unless                   : we cannot succeed unless he helped us.
·         Until                     : Let us wait until the rain stops
·         When                    : I’ll start to think about it when I have to write my report
·         Whenever             : I will wait whenever you’re  ready.
·         Where                  : I remember where we meet for first time.
·         Wherever              : I will wait you here wherever you go.
·         Whether               : I do not know whether she was invited.
·         While                    : I saw you yesterday while you were walking.
·         Why                      : I don’t talk with you why you don’t  go away.
·         Etc……..
Punctuation Note:
When the dependent clause is placed first in a sentence, use a comma between the two clauses.  When the independent clause is placed first and the dependent clause second, do not separate the two clauses with a comma.

4.  CONJUNCTIVE ADVERBS
These conjunctions join independent clauses together.
Example of subordinating conjunction:
·         Otherwise        : always go to other people’s invitation; otherwise, they won’t go to your invitation.
·         Consequently     : Nothing can be unconditional; consequently,nothing can be free.
·         However           : You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it come true; however, You may have to work for it.
·         Furthermore     : im not interested with your agenda; furthermore, don’t invite e again in your agenda.
·         Therefore        : it was raining day; therefore, I used an umbrella.
·         However           : he went to store; however, he didn’t buy anything.
·         Moreover          : he has good team; moreover, he has good leadership skills.
·         Thus                 : the plane crash demaged the building;thus, the building collapsed.
·         Then                 : if you don’t behave; then, you will be punished.
·         Meanwhile        : I asked someone to buy drink; meanwhile I cook a soup.
·         Nevertheless    : it was a hot day; nevertheless, the contruction must be run.
·         Likewise           : our first plan was a success; likewise, the second plan succeded as well.
·         Beside              : he take us a trip; beside, he treats us,
·         Etc                   :

Punctuation:
Place a semicolon before the conjunctive adverb and a comma after the conjunctive adverb
